KUCHING: Miss Cheongsam Malaysia 2013 contestants visited Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong on Wednesday.
They were treated to a cultural experience and learnt about the various indigenous tribes in the state.
Contestants had the opportunity to learn about pua kumbu weaving, try on various traditional costumes, walk on a traditional Bidayuh bamboo bridge and get a closer look at traditional headdresses.
A total of 18 beauties from all over Malaysia made it to the grand finals of the pageant, which will be held tomorrow (Feb 23) at Riverside Majestic Hotel Kuching.
Yesterday the contestants attended a rehearsal at the same hotel and later participated in a Talent Show at Grand Margherita.
The 18 finalists are Tin Ye Shin, Kho Foong Ling, Leong Hui Yee, Ng Siew Wan, Ten Lek Feng, Pang Xing Rou, Sii Siew Kiet, Lim May Li, Sze Thu Shiao Ping, Chai Siew Ching, Tneh Joo Huei, Yap Yie Huan, Tang Siew Ling, Lau Ching Sze, Ong Ai Ee, Liew Sin Yi, Chang Siew Chien and Sim Wen Wen.
Held for 23 consecutive years as a community charity event, the pageant aims to promote Chinese culture as well as foster friendship among the Chinese community.
